Throw A Holiday Party

Holidays are important and fun to celebrate with family and friends. It sounds easy to throw a holiday party, just invite some friends over, drink some alcohol, and celebrate good times together. But, throwing a holiday party can become stressful, as you have to plan on who to invite, decorate your home, and what should be the theme of your party. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Throw a Holiday Party

1. Plan ahead. If you're expecting a large gathering, then take precautions in the days beforehand. Alert your neighbors on the upcoming party, and tour your house to see what rooms need to locked during the party hours.

2. Refreshments. You will have to decide if your party will turn into a wine-and-cheese affair or a college keg party. Stay away from buying cheap hard liquor unless you like cleaning your bathroom floor the next morning. During the holiday season, discount alcohol outlet stores will offer great deals on name brands.

3. Be creative. People love winning silly prizes, so have a trivia contest, a talent show or whatever. Have a holiday theme party or organize a "best outfit at the party" fashion show for your guests in the backyard.

4. Be a good host. Your main job is to encourage mingling by your guests. If you see them splintering off into "high school" cliques, then you must loosen the crowd with much needed entertainment. Yes, you can drink at your own party, but pace yourself. There's no bigger party buzzkill then witnessing the host slipping into an unconscious state at their own party.

5. Choose your music right. Make sure you have a lengthy holiday music playlist in your iPod or burn a few discs for the evening. You must lure your guests into the holiday spirit with songs they're familiar with. Stick with recorded music and avoid hiring a live band. Think of your neighbors, and keep in mind that band members will invite their friends to the party.

6. Respect authority. If the police show up at your door, remember to be respectful and apologize for causing a disturbance. Never allow the party to get too out-of-hand again or risk a return appearance from the law. And a second knock could result in some citations coming your direction. Remember, ask your guest to quietly leave your home at the end of the party, and assist them with transportation if needed.
