School brochures range from informational packets to fun event guide brochures.
Whether you are in need of writing a school brochure to advertise upcoming events, classes, or simply to highlight your school's features, creating your own brochure is not a difficult task and is possible with a bit of creativity and a few original ideas. Writing and preparing your school's brochure can be done by using paper to brainstorm and browsing for creative inspiration in various places.
Instructions
1. Brainstorm the information you would like to incorporate in the school brochure you plan to create. Some topics to add within the school's brochure may include upcoming school fund-raising events, sporting events or after school and summer classes available at the school. Ask school administrators for an overview on the type of material required or necessary to have inside your brochure before finalizing any planning or layout.
2. List the topics and information you plan to add to your school's brochure on a piece of paper, along with the proposed location of each bit of information within the brochure. This will be a rough draft to ensure you have all the appropriate topics in proper placement and that you have all of the necessary information planned into the brochure as well.
3. Research brochure templates by browsing free online template galleries, such as on Microsoft's official template-downloading website, or My Creative Shop. Visit local venues with free brochures and menus for design inspiration. Additionally, visit your local bookstore to browse for graphic design and brochure-design books for an entire catalog of images, logos and template layouts.
4. Begin planning the cover and interior design of your brochure, including the image or school logo you would like to add to the design. Sketch the entire brochure template after you have decided on a template design to fit the brochure's overall theme and message.
5. Add the brochure's cover information into your sketch, including the school's name, contact information (possibly location) and your school's official logo (if available). If the brochure is themed for a specific holiday or event, mention the event on the cover to emphasize its importance.
6. Add the rest of the school events and information throughout the brochure to fit the template you have planned in your sketch. Add information on the school lunch times, days off, holiday vacations and special school events throughout the year if you are creating a traditional school brochure. You can also include information about city blood drives, canned food drives and upcoming community or after-school classes for students and families.
7. Finalize the brochure by creating a final sketch and determining if you are going to have the brochures printed professionally by a design company or firm or by using a computer program and template yourself. Consult with the school on budget information before purchasing and having the brochures printed elsewhere using your final sketch and information.
