Making your own flyers is a great way to get the word out about parties, missing pets, home businesses, and just about anything else that you want to advertise. Attract more attention to your flyers by including your own pictures. Not only will you be expressing your own creativity, you will save money on photographer's fees.
Instructions
1. Choose a picture or pictures to use on your flyer. You may want to crop the picture or cut it into a shape to add interest to the flyer. Try cutting and pasting several pictures together to create a unique collage. You can also combine photographs with drawings, or draw directly on photographs with markers to make custom artwork for your flyers.
2. Position the pictures on the paper, allowing room for text around the picture. Move the pictures around to find the the best placement before taping them to the paper. For an unfinished DIY look use masking tape over the corners of the pictures. If you want a more professional look use tape only on the backs of the pictures so that it will not be visible in the finished flyers.
3. Write your message on the paper using the markers. You can do the lettering by hand or purchase alphabet stencils or find templates online for a more creative font. You may want to sketch your design in pencil first so that you can easily fix any mistakes. Make your flyers really pop by using multicolored markers for the wording. Be sure to use a font big enough that your message will be visible from several feet away.
4. Make photocopies of your flyer. If you chose to use color, make sure that you are using a color photocopier. Basic black and white copies will give your flyer a great DIY look. The type of paper that you use will also have a major impact on the overall look of your finished project. Use a glossy or semi-gloss paper for a more professional looking flyer
5. Create variety by peeling the pictures off the flyer after photocopying and starting over with a new design. Try changing the placement of the pictures, font style and size, the layout of the flyer, and the color scheme. Repeat this process until you have all the flyers you need.
