Is It Appropriate To Send An Evite To My Party Instead Of A Formal Invitation

Will evites soon replace formal invitations?

An evite is an electronic invitation to a party or celebration. Before evites were invented, most people sent formal invitations by mail. Much debate exists about whether evites can--or should--replace formal invitations. Does this Spark an idea?

Significance

According to the company Evite, over 25,000 evites are sent out each hour. More and more companies are offering this service, creating an easy way for people to deliver invitations electronically.

Theories/Speculation

Evites are becoming standard etiquette when it comes to sending invitations to friends and family, at least for some people. Others, however, still prefer to receive a formal invitation.

Considerations

Sending out evites saves time and money. Many websites offer different styles of evites, and some let you import your e-mail address book into their software. This means that in a matter of minutes, you can send out hundreds of invitations with the click of the mouse.

Alternatives

If there are guests on your list who are more traditional, or without access to a computer, consider sending them an invitation that matches the evite. Also, consider that some may not recognize what an evite is, and accidentally delete it.
