Little Boy'S Birthday Party Ideas

Pirate Cake

There are many creative ideas for a little boy's birthday party. The theme that the boy wants will depend on his current interest, a movie that is popular or his favorite toy. Movie-themed ideas usually have plenty of decorations and paper products available at stores that carry party supplies. Most creative themes will take a little more research and planning. Does this Spark an idea?

Pirate Birthday Party

A little boy's pirate-themed birthday party can be planned with minimal cost. Invitations can be purchased or made with construction paper. Make the invitation look like scroll paper, resembling a treasure map. Decorate the invitation like a pirate ship, with pirate flags, skull and crossbones, and treasure chests. The cake can be decorated like a pirate ship. When the guests arrive, give them swag bags filled with an eye patch, foam sword, a pirate hat and handkerchiefs. Games can include making a personalized pirate flag, following a treasure map to find buried treasure and walking the plank. Include a treasure-chest pinata.

Alien Birthday Party

Alien-themed party invitations can be construction paper cut in the shape of a UFO. Designate a room as the space room. Put up glow-in-dark stars, hang inflatable space ships and black-light posters and use only a black-light in that room. Have games set up in the space room. Games could include an alien knock-down (similar to bowling) with bottles painted with black-light paint to resemble aliens; an outside game similar to capture the flag with children on different alien armadas trying to find a home planet; and alien freeze tag. The cake can be the surface of a planet with alien toys.

Spy Birtday Party

The first thing to do for a spy-themed birthday party is to send Top Secret invitations. Have the invitations in a plain envelope with the words Top Secret printed on the front. When the guests arrive at the "base," give each agent his assignment. Have a goody bag with dark sunglasses, a disposable camera, toy binoculars and a toy decoder for each agent. The only game would involve the children solving the mystery and bringing the culprit to justice. The cake can be decorated with a bomb, the words printed backwards with a magnifying glass and footprints.

Dinosaurs Birtday Party

For a do-it-yourself dinosaur birthday party invitation, make an egg out of construction paper with an opening in the top. Place a cut-out baby dinosaur inside the egg and have the details printed on the baby dinosaur. Games and decorations will vary with the age of the child. Some games could include a dinosaur pinata, dinosaur egg hunt and pin the teeth on the T-Rex. The cake can have plastic dinosaurs grazing and the goody bags should have plastic dinosaurs and dinosaur related-toys and candy.

Little boys have a creative imagination. Let the birthday boy play a large role in deciding the theme and getting the party together. The party is sure to be a success.
