Make Nonalcohol Drinks For A Party

Non-alcoholic drinks can have a sophisticated taste.

Whether you are entertaining guests during the summer at a backyard party or during the winter at a holiday get-together, quests will appreciate the option of having a non-alcoholic drink. A cold tangy punch is sure to be a great thirst-quencher, and partygoers gathered around a fireplace may enjoy the warmth of a spicy drink. The taste of these drinks is subtle, yet complex enough to make them a favorite for those with a mature pallet.

Instructions

Non-Alcoholic Punch

1. Start by opening two six-ounce cans of frozen orange juice. Put the contents into a large punch bowl.

2. Add two six-ounce cans of frozen lemonade, eight ounces of cold water and six ounces of bottled lemon juice. The juice of three freshly squeezed lemons can be substituted for the bottled lemon juice.

3. Pour two cups of grenadine into the bowl. Instead of the grenadine, two six-ounce cans of a frozen dark fruit drink, such as grape, cherry or raspberry, can be used.

4. Add three quarts of chilled ginger ale. Mix all the ingredients together.

5. Slice a small orange into thin slices and float them on top of the punch. Finish by adding a few cherries or frozen strawberries. This recipe makes 38 servings using five-ounce cups, and has a taste similar to that of a whiskey sour.

Apple Spice Drink

6. Grate three teaspoons of an orange peel. Crush three sticks of cinnamon.

7. Mix the grated orange peel, crushed cinnamon sticks, one crushed nutmeg and three teaspoons of whole cloves in a small bowl.

8. Put these ingredients into a piece of double-thickness cheesecloth. Tie up the cheesecloth to make a sachet. Instead of cheesecloth, a large tea-straining ball can be used.

9. Put three cups of apple juice in a medium-size sauce pan with the sachet of spices. Simmer for 20 minutes.

10. Ladle out the warm drink into mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick. Double or triple the recipe accordingly as this recipe will only serve six.
