Make Powerpuff Costumes

The Powerpuff Girls is an animated television series featuring three superhero kindergarten girls named Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles. The girls fight crime in their community, while also dealing with common adolescent issues, such as bed wetting and sibling rivalry. The Powerpuff girls all have a signature color -- pink, green or blue -- and large round eyes.

Instructions

Dress

1. Measure the widest part of your hips. Add 4 to 6 inches to that number for seam allowance.

2. Cut four identical rectangle pieces from the fabric. Make the width the measurement you calculated from step 1.

3. Lay two fabric rectangles side by side, so that the shorter sides (widths) are touching each other. Sew the widths together. Repeat for the other two rectangles.

4. Fold the fabric on the newly sewn hemline; you should have the original size of the rectangle. Repeat with other fabric. Lay rectangles side by side, so long sides are touching each other. Pin sides together.

5. Sew along the pins to bring the two sides together. Start at the bottom and sew upward over the fold, down to the other side. Sew all four rectangles together.

6. Cut a 6- to 9-inch rounded neckline at the fold. Sew up the length sides of the rectangle together, but leave about 10 inches of room at the top of the sides for your arms to go through.

7. Slip on the dress. Make a band by wrapping a 4-inch thick piece of black felt around your waist. Secure with glue.

8. Put on white socks and shoes. Style your hair in pigtails and/or a bow, depending on which Powerpuff girl you are.

Eyes

9. Draw two large circles, with a 4-inch diameter, on the foam board. Cut out pieces.

10. Color in the eyes, using markers. First draw a small circle. Daw a larger ring around the small circle, and a larger ring around the medium circle. Keep the smallest circle white. Color the next ring black and the following ring the Powerpuff girl's color. Leave the outer ring white.

11. Remove the frames from your glasses. Glue the foam board eyes to the frames, using a glue gun. Put on the glasses and mark on the foam where your eyes are. Use scissors to cut out small holes for your eyes.
