Kid Birthday Party Favor Ideas

Many parents stress about finding the perfect party favors for their child's birthday bash, but pleasing the party guests is fairly easy. Most children are excited and thankful to receive any type of party favor. Birthday party favor ideas tie in to the party theme, can be integrated into the party's entertainment and activities and are generally inexpensive. Does this Spark an idea?

Homemade Party Favors

Often the biggest party favor hits are homemade items that the party guests help make during the party. Popular homemade favors include cupcakes or cookies decorated by the party guests and crafts made by the guests. Parents usually tie these homemade party favors into the theme of the party. For instance, cookies or cupcakes decorated with pink icing and sugar sparkles for a princess party or a paper pirate hat for a pirate-themed party. Guests will love creating their own favors, and parents will appreciate how the activity keeps the children occupied for part of the festivities.

Candy

Perhaps the most common of kids' birthday party favors, candy is a sure bet to please little guests. But if you or the children's parents are concerned about nutritious snacks for children and don't want to encourage eating sweets, you might opt to forgo the candy. If you do decide on candy as party favors, let the children make their own candy bags by decorating white paper sacks with markers, glitter and stickers. Don't hand out the candy until the children are ready to go home.

Toys and Activities

Other popular birthday party favors are small toys, trinkets and activity books or games. The kids can take home a lasting reminder of the fun they had. These favors are not expensive and are easy to tie into the party theme. For a princess party, parents can give small plastic rings, tiaras, wands or princess coloring books. For a pirate party, parents might choose to give eye patches, pirate figurines or treasure maps out as party favors.

Pinatas or Prizes

To make the party favors more interesting, parents may opt to stuff favors into pinatas or use them as game prizes. Pinatas can be filled with candy or small toys and trinkets; children can fill their favor bags once the pinata is broken. If you use the toys and trinkets as game prizes, make sure all your little guests receive something to take home, not just the winners of the games.
