Whether your daughter is hosting a princess party or you're organizing a home spa day for friends, a decorated mirror is a fun and appropriate party favor. Get all of the guests in on the act by letting them personalize their own with a few basic crafts supplies. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Buy inexpensive hand mirrors in an assortment of colors from the dollar store. Consider pocket-sized mirrors so they'll take less time and supplies to decorate. If you're working with children, use shatterproof mirrors to prevent accidents.
2. Let guests design sticker scenes on the back of each mirror or personalize them with letter stickers. Add dimension by giving them felt, epoxy, chipboard or layered stickers as opposed to the traditional "flat" versions.
3. Provide adhesive dots and dimensional accents like gems, buttons and rhinestones that they can use to create a monogram or border for the mirror. They can also draw designs with liquid glue and sprinkle the lines with glitter for a little glamor. If you go this route, you'll need to create the favors at the beginning of the party so they'll have enough time to dry before the guests go home.
4. Hand out pieces of textured or patterned ribbon that guests can tie around the mirror's handle. Before they make the final knot, slip on a metal charm hung with a jump ring that suits the party's theme. For a princess party, for example, try castles, glass slippers, roses or tiaras.
5. Encourage your guests to decorate the corners or periphery of the mirror face itself with small stickers, transparent glass paint or decorative rub-ons.
