Throw An Anime Party

Anime themed parties are quite popular among children and pre-teens. Thanks to the great number of anime cartoons on TV, you should not be surprised if your child requests and anime party. Here are some ideas for throwing one. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Make invitations. Instead of regular invitations, purchase packs of anime trading cards and tape invitation information on the back.

2. Decorate. Light the room with paper lanterns and hang kites in the party room so that the tails of the pipes act as streamers. Hang a large anime poster on the door or by the entry of the party room, and hang a few anime posters in the room as well.

3. Serve Japanese finger foods such as sushi. If the kids won’t like sushi make fake sushi finger foods that look like sushi. A suggestion would be to make wrap type sandwiches using cold cuts and tortilla wraps. Cut the wraps in 2-inch thick pieces and lay flat, and it will resemble sushi. For dessert make jellyrolls and sushi cupcakes. Use chopsticks for eating utensils.

4. Set up stations where kids can move from one activity to another. In one station, you can have anime games like BeyBlades, and Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon cards. Another station can have anime based video games. Another section can have anime music videos. Pre-teen girls love to learn the dance steps on these videos. Have an anime fan-art contest.

5. Give out anime trading cards, key chains, toys and candy in the goodie bags. For girls, give out Asian-styled purses found at dollar stores and add lip-glosses.

6. Turn it into a costume party with each child dressing as their favorite anime character. Give an award for best costume and another award for the person who stays in character for the entire party, answering only to their character's name and acting like the character.
