Make Your Own Paper Invitations

Use handmade paper to design your invitations.

While emailing e-cards or invitations has become the preferred way to invite people to a party, sending invitations the old-fashioned way is more personable and heartfelt. Make your own paper invitations to send for your birthday party, wedding, anniversary or an afternoon barbecue. Personalize and customize the invitations to match any style or color you need.

Instructions

1. Cut the handmade paper in half using a paper cutter. You should have two sheets of paper measuring 6 inches by 12 inches after cutting.

2. Lay one sheet of the handmade paper flat with the long side of the paper positioned left to right. Fold the left side of the paper in to the center and crease the fold along the edge. Repeat this step with the right side of the paper.

3. Cut a sheet of card stock to measure 4 inches by 6 inches using the paper cutter. Alternatively, you could change the measurements to 3.75 inches by 5.75 inches to allow a border around the card stock.

4. Write the invitation information on the card stock using calligraphy pens. Write as neatly as possible and include all relevant information about the party including the guest of honor's name, the reason for the invitation, the date and time and the location. You might want to include RSVP information as well.

5. Place a line of glue along each side of the back of the card stock using a glue runner. Position the card stock over the center section on the handmade paper and press it down. Use your fingers to smooth along the edges of the card stock to remove air bubbles.

6. Refold the left and right sides of the handmade paper to close the invitation. Wrap a ribbon around the center of the invitation and tie it in a bow for extra decoration.
