Kids' Halloween Drink Ideas

Kids will have fun helping to make Halloween drinks.

Most kids love Halloween, especially because of the costumes, trick or treating, and Halloween parties. While you're handing out candy to treat-or-treaters and giving special sweet treats for your own kids, don't forget to make them fun Halloween drinks too. Serve Halloween drinks at parties or as a spooky after-school or after-dinner treat. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Rotton Apple Punch

Turn ordinary apple cider into a Rotten Apple Punch with gummy worms and a little bit of food coloring. To make the rotten apples for the punch, pour apple cider into five 4-ounce containers and squeeze in two drops of red food coloring and one drop of green food coloring into each container. Stir until blended. Place two to three gummy worms in each container so that half of the gummy worm hangs over the edge of the container. Freeze the containers until their contents are solid. Fill a punch bowl with plain apple cider. Just before serving the punch, slip the frozen "rotten apples" into the punch bowl. They will float at the top of the punch. Drape additional gummy worms over the edge of the punch bowl.

Swamp Juice

Swamp Juice makes your kids think they're drinking from a tasty bog. To serve eight people, you'll need ½ cup small tapioca pearls, food coloring, 4 tbsp. sugar, eight gummy fish, eight gummy worms, seltzer water and lemonade. Prepare the tapioca pearls by boiling 6 cups of water and adding the pearls. Slightly reduce the heat. Boil the pearls for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring intermittently. To color the pearls, divide the pearls and remaining water evenly between two bowls. Add three drops of yellow coloring and one drop of green coloring to one bowl and four drops of blue to the other. Add 2 tbsp. sugar to each bowl. Stir until blended. Set aside, uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes. Drain and rinse the pearls; they should now look like colored fish eggs. Place 2 tbsp. pearls into each glass and drop in one gummy fish. Fill the glass with seltzer water and add just a splash of lemonade. Hang the gummy worm on the rim of the glass and serve.

Bloody Bug Juice

Turn healthy blueberries and raisins into fun, edible bugs for Bloody Bug Juice. Thaw a 24-ounce package of frozen strawberries and mash them with a fork to create the blood for this Halloween drink. Add the mashed strawberries, a 6-ounce container of frozen lemonade concentrate and 1 quart ginger ale to a large pitcher. Divide 1 cup raisins and 1 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen, into four tall glasses. Pour the ginger ale mixture over the raisins and blueberries. Your kids can then watch the "bugs" and "blood" rise to the top of each glass.

Green Ghoul Punch

Serve Green Ghoul Punch at your children's Halloween party. You will need ½ gallon limeade, 1 liter ginger ale, ½-gallon lime sherbet, and marshmallows and maraschino cherries as garnishes. In a punch bowl, mix together the limeade and ginger ale. Scoop in dollops of sherbet and arrange marshmallows and cherries to float on top. Kids will love the ghastly green color of this punch.
