Make Your Own Tea Bags

If you love making your own custom tea brews, but hate how a few leaves always end up in your cup, then the solution is simple: Make your own tea bags. You can fill these delightful little bags with any tea compounds that you wish, then enjoy them yourself or give them as gifts. This is also a great way to make use of old tea bags that have been sitting in your pantry for years and no longer contain good tea. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Design your own tea blend. You can use a variety of herbal blends to make your own tea. Popular choices are dried chamomile leaves for chamomile tea, or dried lavender and lemon verbena. Both of these teas will help you relax and unwind after a hard day at work. You can dry the herbs yourself or purchase them dried from a grocery store.

2. Remove the old tea from the tea bags. You can use your fingers or the staple remover to pull the staple out of the tea bags. This will allow you to dump out the old tea. Do not throw away the string and tag that were attached to the bags, since you can use them later.

3. Place a good, solid pinch of your tea blend into each bag. It should be "plump," but not so full that you have trouble bending the top flap that was stapled before back down.

4. Staple the bags together. After you have filled the bags, you will fold the top of each bag back down, hold the string over the flap and staple the whole thing shut. Now, you have your very own custom tea bags.

5. Write the name of the tea on the label using the Sharpie. This will help you remember that the tea bags no longer hold old, stale tea, but rather your new, delicious custom blend.
