Kid Projects For Jesus' Birthday

The nativity scene reminds us of Jesus' humble birth.

Jesus' birthday is celebrated on Christmas, which falls on December 25th each year. A few simple kids' projects will help you teach children about the birth of Jesus in an interactive manner. While kids are working on their projects, tell them the story of how and why Jesus was born. Whether you select a craft or activity-oriented idea, kids will enjoy celebrating Jesus' birthday with these engaging projects. Does this Spark an idea?

Holy Family

Have kids glue a white square of paper into the center of a blue sheet of construction paper. Give children crayons and ask them to draw Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus. Pass out four Popsicle sticks to each child, and have them glue the sticks around their drawing, in the shape of a house. One stick should be in vertical position on each side of the drawing, and two sticks should be slanted like a roof, meeting directly over the middle of the picture.

Star of Bethlehem

Give children a sheet of dark blue or black construction paper. Have them draw a big star on the paper, using a pencil. Provide the kids with glue, and have them trace over the star with glue. Give the kids gold glitter, and have them shake gold glitter all over the star. Explain to them the significance of the Star of Bethlehem before or during their work.

Choir

Teach kids a traditional Christmas song that tells the story of Jesus' birth. Some of the more common songs include: "Drummer Boy," "The First Noel," and "Little Town of Bethlehem." Once all the children have the song down, perform it in from of your church, or go caroling from house to house.

Donations

Wrap a shoebox with wrapping paper and ribbon, then cut a small slit into the top of the gift-wrapped box. Tell kids that together, you are going to give Jesus a gift for His birthday. Have the entire class or family add money to the box throughout the month of December. When Jesus' birthday arrives, donate all the money to a nearby charity or use it to buy a hot meal and a blanket for someone in need.
