Lastminute Halloween Princess Costume Ideas

A princess costume is easy to make at the last minute.

Perhaps you have been deliberating about what to be for Halloween and you've found yourself in a costume pickle at the last minute, or maybe your daughter decided to change her costume plans at the eleventh hour. No matter what the reason, a princess costume is easy enough to create at the last minute and whoever the costume is intended for will be able to celebrate in style.

Princess Gown

The basis of any princess costume is a gown. Look through your closet to see if you have a gown that can be worn for such a costume; perhaps an old prom gown or a dress that was worn for a recital. If you don't own something, try looking for something suitable at a thrift store. If this option isn't for you, or you don't have any success, you can simply sew lace around the hem of a skirt and the arm and neck openings of a top, glue some faux gemstones to the pieces and tie a length of satin fabric around your neck and let it drape down your back for a cape.

Princess Tiara

The tiara is the most important princess accessory and is an absolute necessity for a princess costume. Fortunately, you can easily make this required accessory at the last minute. In order to do so, purchase or use a plain headband that you already own and glue faux gemstones along the entire surface. After the glue dries, simply put the headband on as you normally would and when the light catches it, your headpiece will sparkle just like a tiara.

Wand

Another accessory that a princess needs is a wand. If you have trouble trying to find one at a party supply store at the last minute, create your own. Buy a wooden dowel and a foam ball from a craft supply store. Paint the dowel gold, silver, pink or purple. To embellish the foam ball, glue faux gemstones on the surface of it. To assemble the wand, glue the decorated foam ball to the top of the wooden dowel.

Jewels

Complete your last minute princess costume with jewels. Buy pieces of costume jewelry, including necklaces, rings and earrings. Alternatively, you can create your own princess-inspired jewels by purchasing a jewelry kit from a craft supply store and assemble your jewels to suit your taste and style.
