Make Your Own Birthday Party Photo Invitation

Include a photo of your child on his next birthday party invitation.

Sending out photo invitations for a birthday party gives invited guests the chance to see the birthday guest in action. Recipients may choose to hang invitations on a bulletin board or refrigerator, and the photos offer visual reminders of the event to make them less likely to forget about the party. Rather than purchasing photo invitations from a website, make your own birthday party photo invitations at home for a fraction of the cost. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Select at least one digital photo of the person who is having a birthday. If the party has a specific theme, consider finding or taking a photo that incorporates some element of the theme. For example, if a girl is having a princess party, take a photo of her dressed up in her best princess outfit for the invitation.

2. Measure the cards you are using for the invitations. If the card opens on the side, plan to print the photos to be at least one inch narrower than the card and no more than two-thirds the height of the card. If the card opens on top, make the photo about one inch shorter than the card and no more than half the width of the card.

3. Take the digital photo file to a photo processing lab and print photos of the size you determined is appropriate for your cards. If you have a photo printer, you can do this step at home.

4. Glue a photo to the front of each card with craft glue. If the card opens on the side, glue the photo on the top portion with equal borders left around the top and sides of the photo. If the card opens on top, glue the photo on the left side of the card with equal borders on the top, bottom and left side of the photo.

5. Write a heading for the party in the blank space on the front of the card. The heading should include the name and age of the person who is having a birthday. For example, you could write, "You're invited to come celebrate Hannah's 6th birthday with us!"

6. Write the party details on the inside of the card. To save time, you could type the information into a word processing program and print one copy to glue to the inside of each card.
