Car Birthday party
Want to make a birthday party extra special but don't want to just buy decorations and/or spend a lot of money? Try these ideas for ways to pep up a birthday (or any) party! Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Once you've decided the theme of your party, think about all the things you might already have around your house: toys, books, posters, etc. Those are easy things to use to decorate on tables and mantels.
2. Next think about logistics: age of the guests, what areas of your home/party place the guests will be. The goal is when the party guests enter the door, they feel as if they have entered another place! Places to decorate include: above the mantel, on the fireplace, above the couch, on the front door, the ceiling, an entryway between rooms, the bathroom, the kitchen, a kids bedroom (if guests will be there).
3. Now decorate those places?
Here are some ideas:
Print out coloring pages of the party theme and have your child color them (or you can print out regular pictures or find them elsewhere) and use them to decorate the walls.
You can blow up balloons and tape them to the wall (or tie them to a ribbon for a garland). Perhaps the same # of balloons as their age can be above the fireplace. You can decorate the balloon by carefully taping a print-out or picture of the party theme character/thing onto the part of the balloon that is showing.
Photos are a wonderful and inexpensive decoration. Create a wall of photos of your child from birth to now and have their name in cut-out letters (construction paper) above. Your child and their friends will love to look at them!
If your child is having a flower-related birthday, for example, you can create a flower from balloons - buy a yellow one for the center and pink ones for the petals - blow up and tie or tape together.
You can also create animals from balloons. Buy brown ones for a monkey and use one for the head (draw or tape on the face) and another balloon taped on for the body...then tape on long brown legs! Make the balloon monkey hang from a green paper streamer vine hanging from the ceiling!
4. In general, the sky's the limit when you stick with paper, tape, and balloons. Online resources are very helpful too!
