Instructions
1. Check local newspapers for cheap tickets to Orlando, FL. Allegiant air offers cheap airline flights one way for $69 per individual.
2. While Disney World offers complete family vacation packages including airfare, hotel and park passes, I saved hundreds of dollars by purchasing the Disneyworld park passes separately from the hotel and air fare. I did not stay at a Disney World resort.
3. If you are an AAA Travel Club member, contact your service agent for assistance. Be prepared with special discounts from Allegiant Air, etc. My agent was not aware of the Allegiant airfare special, but once I mentioned it, she was able to book a non-stop flight to Orlando, FL.
4. Stay outside of Disney resorts at local hotels (Best Western, Buena Vista, etc). Rent a car and drive to / from Disney World parks back to non Disney hotels. Renting a car allows you to eat dinner outside of Disney world resorts at a much lower cost.
5. Shop around for souvenirs. Walt Disney World souvenirs can be purchased outside of Disney at local Travel Centers, souvenir shops. We found a great place outside of Disney that offered 3 / $10 shirts.
6. Bring your own autograph books. We purchased spiral bound books for $1 and a large pencil for the Disney characters to sign autographs. I then made my own scrapbook Disney World autograph book and tore out the signatures I wanted to use. See resource section below for an example.
