If store-bought invitations are too generic and custom-printed ones too expensive, make your own invitations on your computer using Microsoft Word. Word, included with your installation of Microsoft Office, provides a variety of preset option design templates to make invitation creation quick and easy. Once your invitation is ready, you'll need to send it through your printer twice to get both sides printed, and you will have a ready to mail or distribute invitation with just a few quick clicks.
Instructions
1. Open Word and click "File," then click "New." On the "New Document" template, type the word "invitation" into the "Search online for" box and click the "Go" button. You can narrow your search further with words such as "Halloween invitation" or "shower invitation," but you may get fewer results.
2. Search through the results and click a template link, which opens a preview window. If you like it, click the "Download" button. Depending on your computer's speed, it may take a few moments to open in your workspace.
3. Review the invitation's preset text and add your information into the placeholder areas, such as the date and location of the party, plus RSVP. Change any text by highlighting it, then clicking the font, size or color on the text toolbar.
4. Turn on your printer and load in the paper. Click "File," then choose "Print." Select your printer from the drop-down menu, then click the "Pages" button under "Page range." Type a "1" into the box, then click the "OK" button. The cover page of the invitation prints.
5. Remove the paper from the printer and turn it over so the printed part is face down. Load it into the printer so the design side is at the bottom and the white space is on the top of the turned over page. Click "File" and "Print," this time typing a "2" into the "Pages" box. Click "OK" to print. The inside of the invitation prints so when you fold the invitation, both sides are now printed.
