Make Leis For The Head

Make handmade leis using craft materials.

If you are planning a Hawaiian luau or tropical party, make the party more exciting by providing your guests with leis that they can wear on their heads. Although you can purchase leis from a party supply store, they are often made from plastic or fabric, and can seem tacky. One solution is to make your own head leis using fresh flowers, which can be collected from your garden or from a florist's shop.

Instructions

1. Measure around your head with measuring tape, and note the measurement.

2. Cut a length of nylon string to the length of your head circumference.

3. Thread the nylon string through a needle, and knot the end of the string.

4. Collect flowers for the lei. The more flowers you use, the fuller your head lei will be.

5. String the flowers onto the nylon string, pushing the needle through the underside of each flower. Make sure that the flowers are all facing the same way.

6. Tie the ends of the nylon string together once the lei is completely full of flowers.
