Ideas & Decorations for a Bridal Shower


Bridal showers are a common tradition used as a celebration for the bride before her wedding. Customarily organized by the maid of honor or the mother of the bride, bridal showers are intended to brings the bride's closest friends together to bond before the big day. If you are planning a bridal shower, it can seem like a daunting task at first. However, planning and decorating a bridal shower can be done inexpensively and easily.


Theme/Location


Come up with a theme for the bridal shower. This could include the favorite color of the bride, her favorite movie or even an in-home spa night to pamper before the wedding. You might choose to include the bride in the planning of the shower. Decide whether you the shower at your house or at a restaurant or similar location.


Invitations


Before you can make any big plans for the bridal shower, you need to create a guest list and send out invitations. Bridal showers are traditionally for women only, but if the bride has close male friends, you can invite them as well. Only invite people who are close to bride. Do not invite people who have not been invited to the wedding.


Decorations


Decorating for the bridal shower does not have to break the bank. Choose decorations that are simple and traditional, such as white streamers and balloons, or decorate in the bride's favorite colors. If you chose to throw a themed shower, purchase decorations that support the theme. Many decorations can be purchased at dollar stores as well as craft retailers inexpensively. These include balloons, candles and silk flowers. If there is going to be food at the party, buy a tablecloth. Invest in some inexpensive vases and fill them with the bride's favorite flowers.


Menu


If you will be serving food at the bridal shower, plan the menu in advance. Depending on the time of day, plan a brunch, an afternoon tea or a full dinner. Include the bride in the menu planning to ensure she likes the foods you plan to prepare. If you are hosting a large bridal shower and have a large budget for it, have the shower catered.


Gifts


Consult with the guests and go over the bride's wedding registry. If there are any items on the list that seem to particularly apply to her, purchase them as shower gifts. The wedding gifts are traditionally for both the bride and groom, but the shower gifts should be for the bride.


Games


Plan a few games for the bride and her guests to enjoy during the shower. Fill a jar with small candies. Have each guest guess how many candies are in the jar and award a small gift to the guest who is closest. Decorate the jar with a ribbon. Board games and card games are also popular, especially if the shower needs to be appropriate for all ages.
