Ideas For Redneck Wedding Decorations

Tractors are a staple of redneck culture.

"Redneck" is usually an insult referring to "an uneducated white farm laborer," according to Dictionary.com, but it can also make for a fun wedding theme. Guests will enjoy themselves in the relaxed atmosphere of a redneck-themed wedding, and there will not be as much pressure on the newlyweds to impress guests with the usual, lacy wedding frills. Decorations for a redneck wedding can range from outlandishly tacky to rustic and Western.

John Deere Green

Use the green and yellow colors found on John Deere tractors to decorate for a redneck-themed wedding.

You might find these decorating tips particularly useful if you collect John Deere memorabilia, if your wedding song is similar to Joe Diffie's "John Deere Green" or if you can relate to the sentiments in the song, about a small town boy who painted his love for his sweetheart on the water tower in a color called "John Deere Green." Pepper the food station with small plastic John Deere tractors. Rent a larger John Deere tractor and set it up amidst some bales of hay outside of the reception site. Ask a friend to snap pictures of guests posed on the tractor, and give these prints as a wedding favor. Instead of buying a guest book for guests to sign at the reception, hang a large green sheet of fabric, and set out small buckets of yellow paint---the other color featured predominantly on John Deer tractors---and paintbrushes so that guests can paint their well wishes. Later, you can incorporate this fabric into a quilt. Match tablecloths to this fabric, and paint the table numbers in the center in the same shade of yellow paint that you give to guests.

Denim-Clad Tables

Use denim fabric to decorate the tables at a redneck-themed wedding.

Cover the reception tables with denim cloths that feature patch pocket details, as though the cloths came from old pairs of jeans with pockets on them. If you cannot find such tablecloths available for purchase, ask a friend to help you make your own out of yards of denim fabric. Decorate the tables with small bales of hay surrounded by bunches of wheat and small bunches of wildflowers.

Plaid Table Decorations

Use red plaid fabric to make tablecloths for a redneck-themed wedding.

Decorate reception tables and food tables with red plaid tablecloths and blue or black plaid napkins. Cover small tin pails with plaid fabric, and glue table numbers onto the front of the pails. Use the pails also as centerpieces by filling them with dirt and silk or natural flowers. Take care to use simple flowers, such as carnations, as opposed to more formal and expensive flowers, like roses, which will clash with the redneck theme.
