Plan An Ice Cream Birthday Party

Ice Cream Party

Does your child love ice cream so much that they want a birthday party built around it? Read further to learn plan an easy, fun, and yummy birthday party! Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. INVITATIONS: It's so fun for kids to receive their invitation and have a visual of what the party is about! Pick out your envelopes so you know how big the invitation needs to be. Then cut out triangle "cones" from brown paper and then you can either cut out a circular scoop from light-colored construction paper and write the details directly on the scoop or the cone. Or you can make a template in Word for the exact shape and dimensions (Word has auto shapes with triangles and circles) and type the words into the shape and print it out onto colored paper. Then cut out. Either way, once the details are on, glue the scoop onto the cone. Then for a really cute finishing touch, make a little circular photo of your child as the "cherry" on the cone! You can either get a photo of them into Word and crop it down and print onto pink paper, then cut-out into a circle...or you can just get a photo of them with their head relatively small, get it developed many times and then cut that out into a circle. Either way it's a really cute way to tie their face into the invitation!

2. DECORATIONS: If your party is in the backyard and you don't want kids coming into your house, put a sign on your front fence or front door telling people to come on back! You can add a balloon, photo, or ice cream balloon (read on for more info about that). Nothing says "ice cream" more than pastel colors - pink, yellow, light blue, light green, lavender. Find a plastic tablecloth, napkins, and tableware in one or all of those colors! If you want to take the time to put up streamers, that's a great way to decorate too. And finally the cutest and easiest idea is to create balloon ice cream cones. Buy some yellow or brown party hats, turn them upside down and tape in a balloon (color of your choice). Then using the hat's string, hang them around your yard (or in your house if you're having it indoors). It's such a cute and easy way to decorate!

3. ACTIVITIES: While the kids are coming, have bubbles available for kids to blow around your yard! You might even luck out and find ice cream bubbles which are available seasonally at places like Target. They smell like ice cream flavors! Once the kids have arrived, you can start the party! 1) Ice cream scoop game! Get some bags of cotton balls, cheap ice cream cones (you can use them later when the party is over), and plastic spoons. See how quickly the kids can scoop the cotton balls from the bowl to the cone! 2) Play Duck Duck Goose but change it to Ice Cream, Ice Cream, Scoop!

4. ACTIVITY FOR PARENTS: If your child is young enough that some parents will be staying at the party, have an activity for them too. Make up a quiz about Ice Cream. You can look on Wikipedia for the history of ice cream, ice cream cones, flavors, etc. Print it up and provide pens. The winner gets some candy - Baskin Robbins even has hard candy in some of their more popular flavors - a bag of those would be a fun gift!

5. Food: Be sure to time this party so it's after lunch or after dinner - kids will be ready for ice cream! A fun and cleaner way to serve ice cream is in waffle bowls. No chance for dropped ice cream scoops and that way they can have lots of toppings. You can either have one or two flavors of ice cream or many flavors and have the kids choose. Toppings are extra fun to choose - gummy bears, chopped Reeses, sprinkles, M&Ms, and then of course hot fudge and whipped cream. Don't forget to stick a candle in your child's ice cream!

6. FAVORS: Send the kids home with bubbles and something fun and for the summer like pinwheels or sidewalk chalk!
