Word Family Reunion Invitations
Writing a family reunion invitation can be a challenge. The invitation will likely be going to family members you haven't seen in some time. The goal of a family reunion invitation is to bring as many family members together as possible, so wording is important. With a little forethought, you can find the right words to ask long-lost family members to attend the next big family event.
Instructions
1. Write a catchy phrase for the outside of the invitation. You could simply write "Griswald Family Reunion," but what fun would that be? Write something such as "Rolling out the red carpet for . . ." and on the inside, at the top of the invitation, ". . . the Griswald's big family reunion event."
2. Write a brief introduction to the event. Something like this is acceptable: "On Saturday, July 10, 2010, the Griswald Family Reunion will take place at the Fairmont Park." A simple line such as this gives a lot of information right away.
3. Follow the introduction with something that provides substance and context. A good example might be, "Fifteen years have passed since the Griswald Family has come together for a reunion. We need you to help us make it happen again."
4. Write essential information family members will need to know to be prepared. If there will be swimming, you might write: "There will be food, games and plenty of time to ride the waves, so bring swimsuits." This is also a good place to make the event sound as if it will be a lot of fun.
5. Ask for a RSVP. Write something along these lines: "Please contact (insert name) by (a specific date) regarding your ability to attend this big event." End the invitation with contact information and directions to the location of the reunion.
