The Ukulele is an instrument that is most known for being played in Hawaiian Music. It can be seen being played at a Luau in Waikiki, in the Honolulu International Airport upon arrival and on the album covers of many Hawaiian Entertainers. There are a wide variety of Ukulele as far as the number of strings, sound, type of wood and shapes. The Ukulele is made with 4, 6 or 8 strings. As far as sound goes, the four main types of the Ukulele are the standard, concert, tenor and baritone. Woods used to make the Ukulele include Koa or Acacia wood, Mahogany, Alpine, Mango and many others. It is usually shaped in the form of an acoustic guitar, but can also be seen in the same shape as an a electric guitar, in the shape of a pineapple or triangle along with many other variations.Learn play a D chord on this unique, sweet sounding instrument in just a few steps.


Instructions


1. Hold the body of the ukulele by placing the right arm over the front with the strings facing away from the body.


2. With the left hand, hold the neck between the thumb and index fingers.


3. Place the left index finger on the "G" or top string between the first and second fret.


4. Put the left middle finder directly under the index finger on the "C" string that is second from the top.


5. With the left finger, hold down the "E" string directly under the middle finger.


6. Hold all three fingers tightly down on the strings between the frets and strum all the strings with the right hand near the center of the body of the Ukulele.
