Hip Hop Party
A hip hop party is simple to create and a DJ is the perfect form of entertainment. Send invitations that let the guests know to wear their best hip hop attire. Baggy pants, t-shirts, and baseball caps will make a perfect costume for a hip hop party. Make sure to include all of the pertinent party information on the invitation as well. They should tell guests the date, time, location of the party and list a phone number for guests to RSVP. For party favors, give the guests fake gold necklaces and sunglasses to wear.
Use the birthday kid's favorite colors as the party's color scheme and purchase balloons and streamers to match. Drape white plastic table clothes on the food and gift tables. Purchase fake clear jewels to look like diamonds and spread them strategically over the tables. Line one wall of the party area with white butcher's paper. Allow the kids to use colored Sharpie markers to create their own graffiti on this wall. On the remaining walls hang posters of the current popular hip hop stars. Use strands of white lights as the main source of lighting. Create a dance area complete with a disco ball hanging from the ceiling. Have the DJ play hip hop music from the past and present, including artists like Michael Jackson, TLC and the Fresh Prince. For added entertainment, hire a dance instructor to teach the kids various hip hop and break dancing moves.
Rock n' Roll Party
A rock n' roll party will be a night to remember for any music fan. Start by decorating the party area so guests feel like they are walking into a party fit for a star. Use the birthday boy or girl's favorite colors as a color scheme for the party. Set up tables for food and gifts. Plastic table clothes can be purchased to match the party's color scheme. Purchase balloons and streamers to match. Use red fabric to create a red carpet at the entryway to the party area. Strands of white lights will serve as the main source of lighting. Hang posters of the current popular rock stars on the walls to decorate. Inflatable guitars can also be purchased and place strategically throughout the room to add to the decor. Attach strings to blank CDs and hang them from the ceiling. Create a dance area in front of the DJ booth so that guests can dance. Have the DJ play rock tunes from various decades to compliment the theme.
80's Party
The 80's decade was filled with music that was made for a party. From hair bands to line dancing, an 80's party is the perfect party theme for those hiring a DJ. Start by sending invitations telling guests to dress in their best 80's costume. Girls can come in skirts over leggings and a belly shirt. Boys can come in jeans, converse shoes and a jean jacket.
Decorations should include florescent pink, yellow and green balloons and streamers. Black lights can be set up to make the colors stand out. Set up tables for food and gifts and cover them in black table linens. Place numerous glow-in-the-dark necklaces on the tables for decoration. Bowls can also be filled with jelly bracelets and glow sticks to add to the decor and give the guests something to play with. Hang posters of 80's music stars around the room. Guns n' Roses, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar and Poison posters will give guests the feeling they have stepped back in time. Create a dance area and have the DJ play various hits from the 80's.
