Kailuakona Hawaii Dive Shops

Kailua-Kona is a historic village on the coast of Hawaii's Big Island.

The Kailua-Kona coast of Hawaii is a popular diving area for both locals and tourists. There are a number of diving excursions available for private parties or public groups. Kailua-Kona is a luxurious part of Hawaii's Big Island, featuring several resorts, miles of pristine coastline and an abundance of wildlife. Some of the more common marine animals that call the Kailua-Kona coast home include manta rays, dolphins, humpback whales, sea turtles and whale sharks.

Jack's Diving Locker

Open since 1981, Jack's Diving Locker offers a wide variety of diving options to its customers. Not only can you purchase or rent diving equipment here, Jack's also features diving lessons, snorkeling and scuba diving excursions, plus daily boat trips to some of the best dive spots around the Kailua-Kona area. There are a range of diving courses available from beginner to advanced instructor training. Book a trip with Jack's to take a night dive and swim with manta rays, or a day trip to a local dolphin inhabited lagoon just off the coast.

Sandwich Isle Divers

Another popular dive shop in the Kailua-Kona area is Sandwich Isle Divers. They call themselves the "one stop dive shop" on the Big Island of Hawaii. Sandwich Isle instructors dive in shallower coastal waters as there is a larger variety of wildlife available there. Shallow water dives also reduces the risk of suffering from "the bends" that you could experience in deeper water dives. Sights you'll see on a Sandwich Isle dive include underwater plant and marine life, lava tubes, large underwater archways and pinnacle reefs.

Hawaiian Scuba Shack

Offering premier scuba training and instruction, as well as personalized excursions, the Hawaiian Scuba Shack is conveniently located in downtown Kailua-Kona. Embark on a number of daytime or night adventures with the Scuba Shack team. The company offers kayaking, fishing, surfing, scuba diving and snorkeling excursions seven days a week. Gain experience from their one-of-a-kind scuba diving courses and become certified in five days or less.

Blue Water Hunter

The Blue Water Hunter is both a free diving and spear fishing store, in addition to offering customized diving charters and instruction. There is a five passenger maximum per dive charter and Blue Water Hunter will only schedule a diving excursion when booked to capacity. It's best to try and book a dive charter as a group, for as of 2010, it costs each individual $200 for a six-hour diving adventure. All necessary equipment for diving, snorkeling and spear fishing can be found at Blue Water Hunter. If you embark on a spear fishing adventure with Blue Water Hunter, you may encounter species of shark, as they will be attracted to fish like mahi-mahi thrashing in the water.
