Ladies Spring Banquet Ideas

Banquets can be a time for honoring individuals or groups.

Banquets are occasions to celebrate a special time of year, honor individuals or groups, or to raise money for a cause. A spring banquet is often held to thank volunteers or workers from an organization, or to promote specific causes. Spring is also the season of Mother's Day, and banquets can celebrate the relationships of mothers and daughters.

Room Decorations

Decorations can focus on a celebratory theme, such as the accomplishments of a volunteer or work group. Use photos of the group in action to adorn the walls and non-seating tables. Attach latex balloons to the entryways and around the room. Mylar balloons with "thank you" or other phrases can be tied onto long ribbons and attached to chairs and other room fixtures. A banquet honoring mothers and daughters can be decorated with wedding dresses, christening gowns and other memorable items. For a fundraiser, display photos of the organization or cause for which donations will be given. Drape sheer fabrics in decorative ways along walls and hang some from the ceiling to create an elegant banquet. For a seasonal look, decorate with potted flowers, silk flowers, decorative butterflies and other spring items.

Table Centerpieces

Fresh flowers make good table centerpieces for banquets of any type.

Mothers will love centerpieces made by their daughters or other children. Spring-like door prizes can adorn tables for any occasion. Use figurines, teapots, candle arrangements and similar items to decorate the tables, then give away the items at the end of the banquet as door prizes. For a fundraiser, money trees, onto which ladies can tie dollar bills, are useful centerpieces. Silent auction items also can decorate the centers of the tables. Fresh spring flowers in decorative vases and interesting arrangements are always appropriate, no matter the occasion of the banquet.

Banquet Foods

The nature of the banquet will help in deciding order and serve food. Banquet halls might provide the food; outside catering is also an option. An informal ladies' banquet can also be a carry-in. Fresh fruit and vegetable trays provide a colorful look to the food table as well as offering healthy options. Place labeled bowls of various dips near the fruits and vegetables. Sliced meats and cheeses, along with croissants or homemade breads and rolls, are a light meal that can be enjoyed while ladies visit with one another or watch some entertainment. A carry-in idea: Have each guest bring her favorite salad or light dessert item.
