Last Minute Ideas For A Kid'S Costume

Use your makeup skills to turn your child into a miniature circus clown.

If you're trying to find a fast, last-minute costume idea for your child, then there's no need to make a frantic trip to your local costume shop. You can make a fun costume from items that you already have at your house. There's no need for sewing skills when it comes to last-minute costume preparation; instead, use your imagination to create a cool costume for your kid.

Sports Star

Let your daughter show her sports spirit on Halloween.

When you're pressed for time, pull out your child's sports uniform. (reference 1) You son can dress as a star football player or your daughter can be a soccer champ. If you've got a cheerleader in your house, then let her grab her pom-poms and her uniform. A baseball player can pull out his jersey and cleats. Allow your child to suit up in his sports outfit so that he'll be ready for some trick-or-treat play time.

Clown

Allow your child to pick out the funniest outfit that she can find. She should also wear mismatched shoes and socks. Paint her face white with makeup, and add fun red circles on her cheeks and nose. Use makeup to create a clown face that pleases your child. If you have a bright, red wig available, allow your child to use the wig. If a wig isn't handy, then arrange your child's hair in a silly style.

Go Greek

Use a sheet to make a toga for your child and turn him into a Greek statue or a Greek god. Drape the sheet over your child's body and secure with pins so that it doesn't slip while he is trick-or-treating. (Allow your child to wear a white t-shirt and pants under the sheet). Give your child a pair of white flip-flops or sandals to wear. (reference 2) You can also secure a gold rope around your child's waist to complete the outfit.

If you wish to portray a specific god. then you can add accessories to match that being. For example, Zeus is known to have tossed thunderbolts, so you can make cardboard thunderbolts for your little god to carry.

Weatherman

Pull out your child's raincoat and galoshes--it's weather time! Get your child to dress as if he is heading into a serious shower so that he can become a weatherman. Use blue or silver craft paper to design raindrops and use fishing line to attach your drops to an umbrella. (reference 3) When the umbrella is open, it will look your weatherman is caught in a rain shower.
