Ideas For Diamond Castle Cakes

The Diamond Castle from the animated movie "Barbie & the Diamond Castle" is a popular birthday party theme for little girls. Some preteens and adults may enjoy a Diamond Castle party, too. Cake decorators can make a diamond castle-themed cake for a birthday party or other special celebration and ice the cake in colors to match the party's color scheme. Does this Spark an idea?

Diamond Castle-Shaped Cake

Bake a cake in a castle-shaped cake pan or prepare a large rectangular cake and use a serrated knife to cut the castle's shape from the cake. Cover the castle cake with white, pink and purple buttercream icing. Give the cake an authentic look by running over the icing with an icing roller with a brick pattern. Add a smooth white door to the center of the castle and etch detail into the door with a bread knife.

Diamond Castle Picture Cake

Make a large rectangular cake and cover the cake with a layer of smooth, white buttercream icing. Find a picture of the Diamond Castle and place it beneath a semi-transparent piece of wax or parchment paper. Trace the castle onto the paper by piping icing from a pastry bag. Lift the paper, turn it upside down so the icing is facing downward and press it gently onto the cake. Remove the paper and use the icing imprint to complete the castle in icing. Alternatively, have a picture of the Diamond Castle transferred onto a sheet of edible frosting paper and place the paper onto the cake.

Multi-Tier Diamond Castle Cake

Bake a cake in two or three tiers. Cover each tier in a sheet of fondant or smooth, white buttercream icing. Stack the tiers on top of one another and etch the windows and doors into the icing. Decorate the entire cake with pink and purple sugar paste or icing flowers. Cover 11 or 12 different size cake stand pillars in white buttercream icing or sheets of white fondant. Cover foam cone shapes with a layer of pink buttercream icing or spray them with pink edible paint. Place a dab of icing on top of the cake pillars and place a cone upside down on each pillar to make the castle's turrets. Place a dab of icing on the bottom of each pillar and place eight or nine pillars around the first and second tier of the cake and three on top.

Diamond Castle Cupcakes

Instead of a traditional cake for the special event, consider making a batch of Diamond Castle cupcakes. Prepare a batch of cupcakes in metallic or decorative white cupcake papers. Once they have cooled, wrap a ribbon around the outside of each cupcake paper. Decorate the top of each cake with a smooth layer of buttercream icing in any color that coordinates with the party. Cover the icing with a decorative circle shape of white fondant that is approximately ¼-inch thick. Make miniature castles to place on top of each of the cupcakes or top the cupcakes with small plastic castle figurines.
