Luau Party Stuff & Games

Let your guests make their own flower leis as they arrive to the luau party.

Luau parties allow you and your party guests to slip away to paradise without the cost. Treat your friends and family to a day or night in tropical paradise with luau games and activities at your party. With your imagination, creativity and a few supplies from your local party store, you can get started planning a memorable luau party your guests will talk about for months to come. Does this Spark an idea?

Flower Leis

Have your guests make their own flower leis as they arrive at the party. Place several real and silk flowers on a table. Guests string the flowers onto dental floss to make their very own party Hawaiian lei. Make a couple of leis, or purchase pre-made leis for any guests who want to wear one but do not want to make their own.

Pass the Coconut

Purchase two coconuts from your local grocery store. Divide the players into two teams, and have them stand in a single-file line. Give the first player in each team's line a coconut. When you say "go," the players must place the coconut underneath their chin. They have to pass the coconut to the next player in line using only their chin and neck. If a player drops the coconut or uses his hands, he has to take the coconut back to the first player in line, and the team has to start over. The first team to get the coconut all the way down its line wins the game.

Hula Hoop Contest

Place several hula hoops around the party area, and tell your party guests to practice using the hula hoops. Give everyone who wants to participate in the contest a grass skirt to wear. Have each player grab a hula hoop, then give them one minute to practice before starting the contest. When you say "hula," the guests have to start hula hooping. The player who can keep the hoop going the longest wins a prize.

Musical Beach Towels

Scatter several beach towels on the floor or ground, and place one less beach towel down than you have players. Play Hawaiian-themed music, and have the players dance around the beach towels. Place a small table in the middle of all the towels with several pairs of sunglasses. When the music stops, the players have to grab a pair of sunglasses, put them on and lie down on a beach towel. The player left without a beach towel is out of the game. Remove a towel, and keep playing. The last player lying on a beach towel wearing sunglasses wins the game.
