Bags of candy are an easy wedding favor that the couple can put together themselves.
Creating your own wedding favors allows you to choose something that can be a memento of your special day, reflects your personal style, and fits into your budget. Favors do not have to be expensive; simple favors that you created yourself will be more appreciated than a token item your guests will pack away as a remembrance and never actually use.
Homemade Lollipops
Make your own lollipops out of chocolate or white chocolate. The necessary supplies can be purchased in craft stores. Flower lollipops are nice, but large, flat, circle lollipops will allow you to affix a customized label to the pop. Wrap finished lollipops in plastic and tie with colored ribbon matching your wedding color scheme. Use your word processing program to create a round label that includes your names, the date, a graphic of a bride and groom, or your monogram. Add a decorative border and print on colored labels. Stick them on the lollipops and display them on the tables at the reception.
Candles
Purchase votive candles that match your wedding colors. Decorate the candles with stick-on pearls or heart-shaped gemstones. Place a pair of candles into a small organza favor bag that also matches your color theme. Add matchbooks that have been personalized with your names and the wedding date. Tie the bag closed with a fancy ribbon. You can substitute decorated votive candles with plain, colored votives or candles in fancy shapes, such as flowers. If your budget allows, you can also add candle snuffers or pretty votive holder cups.
Candy or Cookies
Use specialty favor boxes that look like a bride's dress and a groom's tuxedo to package your wedding favors. Both chocolate kisses and Jordan almonds are a popular candy choices for favors. Cookies can be added to or replace the candy in the favor boxes. You can make heart-shaped cookies and decorate them yourself, or use store-bought cookies. Attach a tag to the boxes that thanks guests for sharing your special day.
CDs
CDs are a thoughtful wedding favor. Customize your own favor by choosing songs that are commonly played at weddings or make a CD of classic love songs. Be sure to include your wedding song on the CD. Create a personalized label for the CDs with your names and the wedding date. Include a play list with the CD so that guests know what songs are on the CD.
