July Birthday Party Ideas For Toddlers

Start your birthday party tradition young.

Kids with mid-summer birthdays often get short shrift because school is out, people are on vacation and there is nobody around to help them celebrate. To compensate, put together a great party that the folks who are in town can enjoy sharing with your child. Start this tradition when your child is a toddler, and they will never have to feel left in the lurch by their July birthday. Does this Spark an idea?

Patriotic Theme

Stores will be full of patriotic partyware.

For many people, mention of the month of July means one thing: Independence Day. If your little one happens to share their birthday with the United States of America, you can use that to his advantage. Decorate your party in red, white and blue, and use sparkling candles to mark his age on his cake. Serve lemonade with ice cubes floating in it that contain strawberries, raspberries and blueberries to create a patriotic punch. Fill clear balloons with red and blue ribbons before inflating them, to make festive balloon accents. Provide your littlest guests with patriotic coloring sheets and crayons, and let them color to their hearts' content.

Summer Fun

July is typically one of the hottest months of the year, and swimming is one of the preferred pastimes. Capitalize on that by throwing your little one a water park party on a pint-sized scale. Invite all of her friends to come in bathing suits and to bring their towels to her party. Set up a kiddie pool, a sliding water toy and some sprinklers, to create a range of water-filled activities that they can entertain themselves with. Provide small water balloons to the kids, and let them have fun smashing them at their feet, letting go and getting wet.

Let's Go To The Zoo

Let your toddler go wild with a zoo theme.

Little kids love animals, which makes the zoo a favorite getaway for toddlers. Consider having your toddler's July birthday at the zoo. Reserve some time at the zoo for early in the day, before it gets too hot. If you do not have a zoo nearby, you can also host a zoo party at home, by transforming ordinary cardboard boxes into cages for your toddler's ferocious, wild stuffed animals. Have some face paints on hand and make each of your child's guests into their favorite zoo animal for the day. Set up a big cardboard cage for each guest to play in and get their picture taken inside.
