Break out the broomstick and limbo.
The game of limbo started in Trinidad. It originally represented the journey of slaves being brought over from Africa. The limbo position symbolized the crouching position one would have to take in the lower deck of a slave ship. Nowadays, children and adults enjoy playing this game at parties and festivities in backyards, gyms and on sandy beeches. Put on some Caribbean music and allow your guests to dance under the limbo stick.
Instructions
1. Hold one end of the broomstick or rope, while another person holds the other end, about four feet above the ground.
2. Instruct participants to face forward, lean back and move under the limbo stick without touching it. Their legs should move under the stick first, followed by their torso and then their head. If someone touches the stick or falls, she is out.
3. Lower the stick approximately six inches. All those who successfully passed under the stick the first time can attempt this next level. Continue lowering the stick for those who succeeded in the previous round. Play until there is only one person left who is able to limbo at the designated height. Continue to see how low he can go. If there is round where nobody can limbo at a specific height, allow each participant to try again.
4. Add some variations to the game. Challenge participants to limbo backwards or sideways. Search Your Love recommends a version using a garden hose on a hot day. Turn on the hose and hold it so that it sprays in a straight line. Use the water jet as a limbo stick.
