Remove the Springfield 1903A3 Rear Sight
The Springfield 1903A3 is a 30.06 caliber rifle that was used in World War II. It's an old gun that is not complicated to disassemble and reassemble. The rear sight is secured to the frame of the gun above the chamber at the rear top of the gun. The knob that adjusts the rear sight is also what tightens the securing clamps that lock onto the metal frame.
Instructions
1. Lift up on the bolt to release the bolt from the locked position and pull the bolt back to open the breach. Remove all of the bullets in the breach before you proceed with removing the rear sight from the frame of the gun. For your safety, leave the breach open as you work.
2. Locate the round knob on the right side of the rear sight. Turn the knob counterclockwise to loosen the locking clamp. The rear sight blades will move all the way forward, and the knob will get harder to turn as the locking clamps start to loosen.
3. Push the rear sight forward until the clamps are disconnected from the frame of the rifle. Pull up on the rear sight to remove it from the frame.
