Sauteed cabbage is the perfect accompaniment for the Hawaiian pork with tomato and pineapple skewers. Sauteing cabbage produces a flavorful crunchy side dish that is low in calories and high in vitamins. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
1. Heat a pot over medium-high heat. Add the canola oil to the preheated pot. If you don't have canola oil or just don't enjoy the taste of it, substitute olive oil or any other oil you prefer.
2. Add the cabbage to the pot. Cabbage tends to shrink when it cooks, so you need to add more cabbage to the pot as it cooks. Season the cabbage with salt and pepper.
3. Stir the cabbage in the pot to get it covered in the oil and the salt and pepper. Add the vegetable stock until the pan is 2/3 full. Vegetable stock gives a nice flavor to the cabbage. If you don't have vegetable stock on hand, you can always try chicken stock.
4. Bring the contents of the pot to a rolling boil. Once boiling, lower the heat and simmer the cabbage for approximately 10 minutes.
