Select A Pool Party Theme

A swimming pool is a great place to entertain your friends and family for all types of occasions. And when you select a theme for your festivities, you open up a whole new world of excitement and enjoyment to an already joyous event. Your selection of a theme is a fun way to express your individuality or to recognize a particular event, such as a birthday or a shower. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Choose a Pool Party Theme That's Right for You

1. Plan a Mexican fiesta. Serve luscious enchiladas and tacos along with delicious Mexican beers and frosty margaritas. Decorate the pool area with brightly colored lights and hang a pinata for some after dinner exercise. Use sombreros as accent pieces.

2. Strand your guests on Gilligan's Island and have them dress as their favorite castaways. Eat coconut cream pies and drink fruity daiquiris. Play escape from the island games and select the castaway with the best idea and give him or her a prize.

3. Have a spa day theme for ladies only pool parties. Hire a masseuse and a manicurist and set up stations around the pool party area. Serve Cosmopolitans and tapas and kick back and enjoy the girl talk.

4. Blow up a few floating lounges, roll out your big screen and have a movie night. Have a buffet of movie favorites set out for your guests to select: popcorn, hot dogs, tons of candy and soda. Set up several chairs around the pool for those who don't want to get wet.

5. Celebrate the season. Pull out the red, white and blue for the fourth of July, or bring in several decorated trees for Christmas (if you live in a warm place). Have a New Year's Eve blowout complete with champagne, noisemakers and a countdown.

6. Give a sales party. Between dips in the pool, have your favorite products available for purchase, like Tupperware or Avon. Serve grilled burgers and hot dogs. Mix up a batch of martinis or pour some wine.

7. Buy "Celebration Solutions: 101 Themes and Decorating Ideas for Reunions, Parties, Fund-Raisers, Holiday Celebrations, Anniversaries and Every Other Get-Togethers" by Dina C. Carson and Risa J. Johnson at Amazon if you run out of ideas for a party theme (see Resources below).
