Birthday parties are not just for children. Adults love to celebrate this special occasion with a party in their honor. Adult birthday parties are more about being together with family and friends then the gifts. It's a time to enjoy everyone's company and have fun. With the right planning an adults birthday party will be a memorable time for everyone. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Preparation Before the Party

1. Decide on a theme. Adult parties are more fun with a theme. Think about what the guest of honor likes to do, or a place they love to visit and come up with a theme. Some ideas when planning an adult's party are a football theme, a luau or a mardi gras themed party.

2. Find a location. Once you have decided on a theme you can find the perfect spot. Consider an outdoor location for some themed parties. Other options are a restaurant, a pool or a country club.

3. Mail the invitations a few weeks in advance. Include the theme so guests can dress appropriately. Have an RSVP date on the invitations. This will help you plan the amount of food and drink to buy.

4. Plan some activities. Even an adult party is made more fun with activities and entertainment. Try to keep activities related to the theme. For example, have a hula lesson at a luau or play a game of flag football at a football party.

5. Select a menu. Consider tying in the food choices with the theme. If you are having alcoholic beverages also have non-alcoholic options for guest who don't drink. Buy drink accessories like fancy straws, umbrellas and special ice trays to make shaped ice cubes. This adds to the atmosphere. Don't forget a cake.

6. Buy decorations. Go to a party supply store and look around. They often have themed party decorations. Look online for specialty items that may be hard to find.

Make Party Day Run Smoothly

7. Get started early. Allow plenty of time to get to the location, pick up food if necessary and get dressed for the party. Being pressed for time creates stress and may make you forget something.

8. Ask friends for help. Have a few people meet you at the location to help with set up. They can put up decorations, set up tables or put out food. Depending on the size of the party it will be easier to delegate then do everything yourself.

9. Don't forget the music. Adult birthday parties are more fun with some music. Pick out music that will enhance the atmosphere of your party. If you want people to dance, then select something that will get your guests moving. If you know your guests would rather talk then pick something appropriate so guests will be able to hear each other.

10. Have a great time. Even if everything does not go according to plan keep perspective. Having an adult birthday party is a time to celebrate with friends and family.
