Plan Games For A Luau Party

Having a luau implies that the party atmosphere will be light, lively and fun. Plan the games for your luau early in case you need to gather supplies and use your creativity! The never-fail basics such as the limbo contest, costume contests and hula hoop contests are appropriate for guests of all ages. Music-themed games require more planning, but are equally fun. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Set up Classic Luau Games at Your Childs Party

1. Borrow 10 hula hoops from friends or neighbors to avoid buying extra supplies for your luau.

2. Place several hula hoops on the ground and have each child select a hula hoop.

3. Start the music and direct each child to spin the hula hoop. The child that keeps the hula hoop in motion longest is the winner of the round.

4. Have each rounds winner face off in a hula hoop challenge. The last hula hoop spinning is the ultimate winner.

Create a Limbo Line at Your Luau

5. Plan for a limbo contest with just a radio and a broomstick. You will need the adults to help by holding the broomstick level during this game.

6. Tell to adults to stand on either end of the broomstick, holding it horizontally. Start by holding the broomstick three feet off the ground.

7. Direct the kids to go belly up under the limbo stick. After the last child has gone under the stick without touching it, lower the height six inches at a time.

8. See how low the kids can go. The winner will be the last kid able to clear the limbo stick as it gets lower to the ground.

Play Musical Games to get the Kids up and Moving

9. Set up beach towels in a circle. Lay out one less beach towel than you have players.

10. Have the beach walkers walk in a circle around the towels when the music plays. When the music is turned off, the players must sit down on an open towel.

11. Eliminate any player who is not sitting on a towel when the music stops.

12. Remove another towel and turn the music back on. Keep repeating this until there is only one player remaining.
