Word your invitations to get guests ready for a Hawaiian party.
If you and your friends can't make it all the way to Hawaii to throw a party, have a luau in your home town instead. This tropical-style party features brightly colored decorations, pineapples, umbrellas, tiki torches, grass skirts and lots of sunshine. Traditional luaus even have a whole roasted pig, although you can opt for pulled pork or just tropical smoothies. Include some of these images on the invitations and use luau-inspired wording to help get guests in the spirit of laid-back Hawaii. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Write a Hawaiian greeting of "Aloha!" at the top of the invitation. This word is perhaps most associated with Hawaii, so your guests will understand the party's theme right away.
2. Write a sentence that lets guests know the reason for the party and also mentions that it will be a luau. For example, you could write, "Jimmy is turning eight, and he wants to have fun, so join us for a luau, and party in the sun!"
3. Indicate the time, date and location of the party, and put a little Hawaiian spirit into it. Instead of just writing the time and date, say, "Get ready to hula on June 24 at 5 p.m." For the location, you could write it as, "The Jones' backyard beach at 555 Main Street."
4. Include a line that lets guests know what food to expect at the party. If you'll be having a full meal, write something like, "A Hawaiian feast awaits you!" For a party with just snacks, write, "We'll have tropical smoothies and cake."
5. Create a clever rhyme to end the invitation. The best rhymes incorporate information, such as the RSVP phone number and the recommended attire: "Call 555-4827 to let us know if you're coming on the special day. Wear your Hawaiian best, and we'll provide the lei!"
