Measure For A Hula Hoop

Using the proper size hula hoop allows you to use the correct technique and strain less to keep the hoop up.


The hula hoop is a simple device that has provided hours of entertainment and exercise to millions of people. The principle is simple: move your hips back and forth and try to keep the hoop spinning around your waist without it touching the ground. The reality is much more involved. To hula hoop properly you need a hoop the right size and weight for your body.


Instructions


1. Measure from the floor to your belly button and write down the measurement.


2. Add 2 to 3 inches to the measurement. Find a hula hoop with a diameter that matches your new measurement number.


3. Test different weights in your size to determine the weight that best works for you. Hoops range from no added weight to a couple of pounds. Some feature weight that's evenly distributed. Others are filled with sand or another substance that will shift as you spin the hoop and assist you in keeping it up.
