Organize a Children's Birthday Party


Birthday parties for small children are a great way to bring their friends together. If you are planning to throw a birthday party for your child, it can be frustrating to figure out where to begin your organizing process. However, planning and executing a children's birthday party is simple. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


1. Choose a theme. It is best to pick a theme based on your child's interests, such as a favorite Disney character or television show.


2. Send out invitations, preferably two weeks before the party is held.


3. Order the birthday cake. Many grocery store bakeries sell custom birthday cakes. Have the cake decorated to fit your party theme.


4. Purchase decorations and supplies for the party. Party supply stores such as Party City sell a wide variety of inexpensive decorations to fit almost any theme. Balloons, plates, napkins, cups and tablecloths are all decorations and supplies you will need.


5. Choose games and entertainment to keep the children occupied. Classic games include Duck, Duck, Goose and Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Board games, pinatas and scavenger hunts are other options to consider.


6. Plan the menu. If the party will last more than two hours, it is likely the children will get hungry. Chicken nuggets, fruit snacks and other finger foods are age-appropriate and can be purchased inexpensively.


7. Set up the decorations and games on the day of the party. Have everything set up one hour before the guests are set to arrive in case any arrive early.


8. Set out the food 15 minutes before the guests are set to arrive. Do not allow the food to set out for too long, or it may spoil.
