1. Count the number of guests that have confirmed acceptance of the invitation to the slumber party. Note that you may have to contact a few that may be slow to respond.

2. Take the ages of the guests into consideration when you begin to plan the menu for the slumber party. If the party is for children, then simple snacks and long-time favorites may be in order, such as pizza and chips. 3. Plan the menu for your slumber party to correspond to its theme, if you're using one. For instance, a Hawaiian theme might be complemented nicely by a menu that includes coconut shrimp, veggie kabobs and steamed ocean fish. On the other hand, a pirate party theme for kids might have 'sea dogs in a blanket' and mixed soft drinks named after Captain Jack Sparrow.

4. Write down each dish you plan to serve and how many servings each will yield, modifying it as needed. From this list, you can create a shopping list.

5. Decide where and how you're going to serve your menu and plan accordingly. If you decide on a buffet, for example, you may want to rent some chafing dishes to keep hot foods ready to eat. If you're going to let the kids eat from bowls on the floor, think about covering the floor with old blankets or beach towels for easy cleanup.full buffet fare.
