Make Creative Baby Shower Invitations

Making baby shower invitations is a fun crafty activity.

Making baby shower invitations can be really fun. With so many themes, colors and decorations from which to choose, your imagination should run wild. You can design a unique invitation that can set the tone for the shower--traditional, zany or anything in between--and be saved by the mom-to-be as a memento. Use pink or blue if the baby's gender is known, or other pastel colors, and include images associated with babies such as bottles, learning toys and diapers.

Instructions

1. Figure out how many guests are coming to your baby shower so you can purchase the right amount of blank cards. Buy a few extra cards just in case you forget someone in your initial count. Don't forget to buy envelopes that complement the color of the invitations.

2. Buy everything you need to decorate your invitations. Supplies such as ribbons, lace, glitter and other little decorative pieces will make the invitation unique. Cutting the card into the shape of bib, bottle, blocks, stork or diaper is a great way to make cute baby shower invitations. Decorate the edges of the greeting message--which could be anything from "It's a baby shower" or "You're invited" to "Let's shower (mom-to-be's name) with love"--with a small border of bottles, diapers or baby rattles (images easily found online if you didn't find them at the craft store), affixed with a glue stick.

3. Type up the message that will appear inside of the invitations on your computer. Use a font that accents the decorations, such as a flowing script. Include information such as the name of the mom-to-be, the name of the baby (if known), the name of the father, the date of the shower, its location and directions (if necessary), phone number to RSVP, the theme of the party, and where the baby's parents are registered.
