Make My Own Birthday Flyer

If you're planning a big bash to cerebrate an upcoming birthday, then creating your own birthday flyer might be a good way to get the word out. Perhaps you've booked a musical group or a DJ to provide entertainment, or maybe you're holding your birthday bash at a theme park. Whatever your reason, if you intend to invite lots of people from school, work or the community, then a birthday flyer might be more suitable for your particular celebration than individual invitations. Creating your own birthday flyer is relatively easy process.

Instructions

1. Decide what information will need to be on your flyer. Beyond the birthday girl or boy's name, the essential information you should include will be the date, location and time of the party. If the party has a specific theme, and therefore requires guests to wear appropriate attire, then this should be noted on the flyer. Also, make sure to include other facts that guests should know to avoid any unpleasantness on this festive day, such as whether alcoholic beverages are allowed or not.

2. Brainstorm ideas for the design of your flyer and try sketching them out in a sketchbook. Do your best to make your flyer match your theme whenever possible. For example, if you're having your party at a theme park, including a Ferris wheel on your flyer might work.

3. Bring in any photos or outside graphics that you want to include on your flyer and save them to a folder on your hard drive. This might include a photo of the guest of honor.

4. Open a new document in a graphics program like Photoshop and set the dimensions for height and width. You should also set your documents resolution to at least 150 pixels, and naming it "birthday flyer". You can use any image you like as your flyer's background by just copying and pasting it into "birthday flyer." Or you could have a plain background color. Remember to work in layers as you create you design, saving each new element on a separate layer. Also, there are a variety of different fonts and filters to choose from that can create amazing effects for your flyer.

5. Print your flyer at home or have it professionally printed. If you intend to print your own flyers, then you will need to purchase flyer paper. Flyer paper comes in a single color or multi-colored packs. You may also opt to have your flyers printed at a print shop. If you go this route, you will need to save your flyer on a CD. Stores like Staples and Office Depot do this type of printing. Remember to inquire about bulk printing rates.
