Press a waffle pattern into uncooked glutinous rice cakes to make mochi waffles.
Mochi, a product of Japan, is a dense rice cake that puffs up when it's toasted. Packaged mochi is readily available at natural or health food markets and at stores that sell Japanese groceries. Rather than toasting the mochi, as traditional, put it in a waffle iron to creates a warm mochi cake with the crunchy texture of a waffle. You will have a fast snack from your kitchen that is a popular Japanese street food. Add this to my Recipe Box.

2. Plug in the waffle iron to heat it.

4. Arrange eight mochi squares on the waffle iron per waffle. Place two squares of mochi into each quadrant of the waffle iron.
5. Close the lid as far as it will go and hold it down until the mochi begins to cook and melt.
6. Cook the mochi for four minutes or until crispy and lightly browned on the outside.
