Make Paper Hawaiian Flowers

Hawaiian Paper Flower

For years, making paper Hawaiian flowers has been a fun kids' pastime--but adults can enjoy crafting these flowers, too. They make great decorations for summer parties; all of the bright colors will make your patio the place to be. They also make great leis, and can be strung together to make flower streamers. You can make a large amount of flowers in a minimal amount of time. So grab some tissue paper and let's go!

Instructions

1. Cut your tissue paper into pieces that are approximately 8"x10". (You can alter these proportions to make larger or smaller flowers.)

2. Stack together several different colors of the cut tissue paper. Varying the colors will create a bright and decorative flower. You can also stick with a single color if you like.

3. Starting at one end, fold the stack like an accordion. Be careful not to add too many sheets to the stack, which can make it difficult to fold.

4. Tie a pipe cleaner around the center of the folded stack to secure it. If you do not have pipe cleaners, you can also use a twist tie, like the ones that are used to secure garbage bags.

5. After you have secured the center, gently pull each piece of tissue paper individually toward the center. This will give the flower its puffy look. Keep pulling until your flower is shaped just right.
