Make Your Own Children'S Party Invitations

Work together with your child to create personalized invitations for his next party.

Creating party invitations with your child can be a fun and rewarding experience. Children of any age can help you design their own invitations using pre-printed decorative papers or using electronic images on blank papers or postcards. After you design and print the basic invitation, your child can add embellishments to each one to make it personalized for every party guest. The creative process of designing and making the party invitations is an exciting and educational activity for your child. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Purchase the paper that you want to use for your child's invitations. Popular options are either pre-printed border paper or cards decorated with a party theme or blank sheets that you can design with your own images.

2. Open your favorite software on the computer and format a page to the size of your invitation paper. You can create invitations using writing software such as Word, WordPerfect or Works.

3. Type the party details into the document and format the text with colors and fonts of your choice. Ask your child to help design this aspect of the invitations if you like. If you chose pre-printed border paper set the margins of your document to the edges of the border so that the print does not bleed into the design.

4. Add images to your invitation using clip art, photos, or other party images. Many free and low-cost party images are available on the Internet.

5. Print the document onto the invitation paper. Have your child add embellishments such as stickers or a hand-written note on each invitation to make it personalized for each party guest. When your child has finished the personalization, the invitations are ready to mail.
