Make Material Hair Flowers For Hair

Felt is the perfect fabric for making a material hair flower.

Although there are a variety of flowered hair accessories available for purchase in beauty stores and online, the truth is that you can create your own piece for a fraction of the cost, even without extensive sewing experience. Felt is a material that you can purchase by the sheet in craft stores very inexpensively. Combined with a few other simple craft supplies, you can transform the felt material into a beautiful clip-on hair flower.

Instructions

1. Draw the outline of a flower on a sheet of felt in the size and shape that you wish for the final product to be.

2. Draw a similar version of the outline you drew on a second sheet of felt, making the design slightly smaller than the original. Choose two colors of felt that contrast well with each other, like blue and green or yellow and orange.

3. Cut both flower shapes from the sheets of felt. Lay the smaller version centered over the larger version and secure with sewing pins.

4. Use a needle threaded with a color that matches the larger flower piece to stitch the entire perimeter of the smaller flower cutout. Knot the thread and cut the needle away with a pair of scissors and remove the sewing pins.

5. Apply a dot of hot glue on the center of the material flower piece and press a large craft jewel over it. Allow it to dry.

6. Hot glue smaller craft jewels over the edges of the petals, using tweezers to avoid burning your fingers. Allow to dry.

7. Line the top of a metal alligator clip with hot glue and press the flower over the top. Allow to dry and cut away any dried wisps of the hot glue with scissors.
