Make Invitations With Adobe Photoshop Cs2

Make Invitations With Adobe Photoshop CS2

When you're getting ready to have a party, you probably take care to make sure everything matches, from your decorations to the cake to the gift wrap. Don't leave out the first thing people see when you tell them about the party -- the invitations. Although you can buy boxed invitation cards in any card store, they can feel generic. Instead, make your own by using your Adobe Photoshop CS2 software and you'll quickly be on the way to getting the party started.

Instructions

1. Open Photoshop, click "File" and select "New." Type "Invitation" in the "Name" box and set your preferred invitation dimensions in the "Width" and "Height" boxes, such as 5-by-7 inches. Pull down the "Color Mode" menu and select "RGB Color." Click the "OK" button, and the Photoshop workspace adjusts. Pull down the "View" menu and select "Fit on Screen" to enlarge your workspace and make it easier to type.

2. Click the "Type" tool, which looks like a "T" on the "Tools" palette on the left side of the screen. Select a font, size and color from the toolbar on the top of the screen.

3. Position your cursor at the top of the invitation and type the invitation greeting, such as "You're Invited" or "Join Us for a Birthday Party!"

4. Click lower on the card, reduce the font size and type the other invitation information, such as the date, location and time of the party, what to bring and RSVP.

5. Click the "Paint Bucket" tool on the "Tools" palette, pull down the "Fill" menu at the top of the screen and select "Pattern." Click into the "Pattern" box beside it and select a pattern to serve as the background design of the invitation. If you don't like any of those, click the arrow in a triangle icon, choose one of the pattern groups at the bottom of the list and select "Append." Scroll through the new choices and click one for the background.

6. Slide the "Opacity" bar on the toolbar to 30 percent and click the white space of the card to fill in the background.

7. Click the three-line icon on the top-right corner of the "Layers" palette and select "Flatten Image." Pull down the "File" menu, click "Save As" and save the invitation to your computer.
